On my learning journey, I have studied
software testing from several well-known worldwide testers.
James M. Bach
James Bach created the Rapid Software Testing (RST) Methodology.
I highly recommend his website for diving into software testing.
If you are new to the field, I suggest reading this post.
A good start is to begin with the RST Appendices, where you will discover insights on developing a Context-Driven Test Plan, the Heuristic Test Strategy Model, General Test Techniques, and a particularly debated topic: TESTING IS NOT ALL ABOUT TEST CASES.
Listed below are several blog posts that served as inspiration for me:
- Testing and Checking Refined
- Manual Tests Cannot Be Automated
- Rapid testing Guide to Making Good Bug Reports
- Context Driven Methodology
Additionally, RST hosts a YouTube channel where you can find a wealth of material on software testing.
James Bach developed a set of tools designed for analyzing web applications for testing purposes. These tools are available on his GitHub page and are freely accessible to everyone.
James Bach’s way of teaching software testing is priceless. For those who want to make a difference in the software testing field, I suggest attending his classes.
Michael Bolton
Michael Bolton started following and talking about Rapid Software Testing founded by James Bach in 2004. Since then, James and he have developed the RST approach and co-authored the current Rapid Software Testing classes they teach.
Listed below are several blog posts that inspired me:

- Four (and More) Questions for Testers to Ask
- Heuristics for Understanding Heuristics
- Oracles Are About Problems, Not Correctness
- Testing Without Requirements
